Regular Membership Meeting

Dr. Ellen O’Connor, President, called the meeting to order. 
 
Dr. O’Connor introduced Linda Bella, Centris Group, who spoke on special ed cost saving strategies using special ed management systems to increase staff productivity, return time to teaching, enhance compliance and maximize aid. 
 
Vice President’s Report:  Brenda Grant thanked those present for attending and reported that there were 22 renewed memberships.  Our goal is 125 members.
 
Southern Region Rep:  Diane Mazzei encouraged attendance at the Winter Training Institute at the Sheraton Eatontown on Friday, December 2.  Mike Miles is the Keynote and the program can be found on our website www.njafpa.net.  She said to Like us on Facebook. 
 
Northern Region Rep:  Lisa Finn Bruce encouraged attendance at the Winter Training Institute at the Sheraton Eatontown on Friday, December 2. 
 
Dr. O’Connor mentioned that Mike Miles will be the Keynote and Brenda Grant mentioned that he is a noted educator from Colorado that the NJDOE has brought to New Jersey for schools in need of improvement.  
 
Dr. O’Connor mentioned that we have nine registrations for the Spring Training Institute.  Robert Marzano will be the program for the first day.  
The Commissioner has been invited for the second day and we will have DOE breakout workshop sessions.  Karen Campbell has been invited and Bari Ehrlichson cannot commit this early.

Dr. Loggi introduced Dr. Ray Allen, District Supervisor of Math, Science, Testing and Basic Skills, Atlantic City School District.  Dr. Allen reviewed What Gets Monitored Gets Results, a qualitative look at quantitative formative and summative assessment data. 
 
The next meeting will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Eatontown Sheraton.  The featured speaker will be Raquel Sinai.
